Clouds In July!?

The heat in Vegas is brutal.
The sun out here is downright MEAN.

Sweet Mother Nature must have decided to take pity on Claire and all the other little girls of Las Vegas that yearn to celebrate summer. Mrs.Nature couldn't possibly continue to ignore the look in Claire's eyes lately, as everyday she longingly gazes out of the stairway window, past the dirty glass and beams of sunlight, to the BIG BLUE POOL. Oh, those pitiful little baby whimpers and big brown eyes...She wants nothing more than to hop right into that big water-filled circle of fun!

It has just been impossible for us to remedy this dilemma.
We refuse to let that MEAN, MEAN sunshine take advantage of our sweet, sweet little girl. But, because we deprive her of this dream, we are the ones seen as MEAN, MEAN.

Trust us, she knows how to give a cold baby shoulder. Brrrr.

BUT...

Today was a different story, a different song.
Today we were all best friends and there were no cold baby shoulders in sight.
Today Claire got to jump right into that big, water-filled circle of fun because the MEAN, MEAN sun decided to hang out behind the clouds (YES, THERE WERE CLOUDS IN THE SKY!) for an entire afternoon.

She gladly let me slather her in sunscreen that had enough SPF to protect us all, and ate up every minute of the afternoon outside, as well as some yummy vanilla yogurt.

Back to business as usual tomorrow, but we will continue to bask in the glory (and 103 degree temperatures) until this day is done!

Playground Oasis (Bakersfield, CA)

After a couple of planned trips had fallen through, and summer days continued to slip away, my sister and I got serious about getting the kids together while we still had free time on our calendars and the energy to make it happen.

This time, Claire Bear and I lost the coin toss (yet again).
Okay, okay, so we never REALLY toss a coin to determine which house to go to, but it is undoubtedly easier for me to put one kid in the car and go than for my sister to do the same with three.

After grabbing a few change of clothes, some snacks for the road, and filling up on fuel, we hit the road for a quick trip to Bakersfield to check up on the cuzzies...

It is SO INCREDIBLY HOT in this region that we had to turn Auntie Narnie's home into our very own Playground Oasis.

This turned out to be a fantastic idea for all.

There were plenty of icy beverages,

cool dips,

and dance parties GALORE!

We also celebrated a couple of very special summer birthdays,

and Emma showed off her buff muscle skills.

The cuzzies love being around Claire so much that they followed her lead most of the time.
This meant partaking in "baby games" like Magnetic Refrigerator Fun and Chase the Dora Candle.

It was a super fun visit for the kiddos.

Before we knew it, our time was up, and we had to head back to Vegas.
Claire was totally destroyed when I broke the news to her, though it is hard to tell what she is thinking when that unruly hair takes residence over half of her face...

Ahhh, there we are.

Missing you all!

Best. News. Ever.

Soon, like exactly 14 days soon, we will welcome two new additions to our home and the Las Vegas area.

"Ma" and "Pop" have sold their home in Las Cruces!
YAY!!!

We are preparing for lots and lots of precious moments like this:

And, of course this:

Once they get here they will begin their search for the best home they can find....
please make it within walking distance from the Teitler home!!!

Until then, we will enjoy our new roomies.
It feels so great knowing this visit is permanent and we never have to say goodbye!
